James "Jim" Shufesky James "Jim" Shufesky, age 43, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Erie on January 6, 1967, the son of Myron and the late Nancy Kennedy Shufesky. He was an '86 graduate of McDowell. He was a paramedic for twenty years with Emergycare and was a volunteer fireman. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts as an assistant scout master. He was an Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and leatherwork. He is survived by his father, Myron Shufesky, his wife, Candace "Candy" Naylor Shufesky, stepchildren: Leah Mineweaser and Tori Jackna; two brothers, Thomas "Duffy" Shufesky (Patti) and William Shufesky; three sisters: Anna Cornwell (George), Patricia "Patty" Cathcart (Dan), and Katherine "Kathy" Kulasa (Erik). He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Shufesky and one stepdaughter, Emily Mineweaser. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to Our Lady of Peace Church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. for the funeral mass. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Boy Scout Troop 59 Our Lady Peace Church, 2401 W. 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
