Delores "Del" Koppes Sivillo
Delores "Del" Koppes Sivillo, age 79, of Millcreek Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2009 lovingly surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born in Erie on June 2, 1930, the daughter of the late, Cleon and Florence Blakeslee.
Del was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and attended worship with her husband at St. Julia R.C. Church. She was a custodian at Behrend College retiring in 1992. Prior to that, she worked at JoAnna Connell School in the cafeteria. Del was an avid bowler and participated in various leagues in the city. She also founded H.E.R.D. ( Happy Entertainment and Recreation for the Disabled), a volunteer group for the handicapped. Throughout her life, Del was a tremendous volunteer, always supporting organizations that worked with the disabled and people in need.
Del was preceded in death by her first husband, Stephen Koppes, one daughter, Diane Koppes, and one brother, David Blakeslee. She is survived by her husband, Nick Sivillo, three children: Robert D. Koppes (Sue), Stephanie L. Corbin (Dean), Katrina M. Schaeffer (Ed), two sisters; Pat Kornacki (Tom), Beaty Emch (Randy), and two step-children; David Sivillo (Michele), Nick Sivillo, Jr. (Janice), 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday for the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gertrude Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place, 136 East Ave. Erie, PA 16507 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St. Erie, PA 16505.
