Obituary of Ruth Skitka

Ruth E. Skitka Ruth E. Skitka, age 77, of Millcreek Twp., died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Twinbrook Medical Center. She was born on September 2, 1932 in Colver, PA, the daughter of the late, Edward E. and Sylvia (Lloyd) Pardee. Ruth graduated from Barnesboro High School in 1950. On November 4, 1950, she married George Skitka of Hastings, PA. After raising a family, Ruth worked for many years at Plastek Co., before retiring in 1994. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, watching tennis, and reading books. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons; George A. and Daniel L. Skitka; brothers; Gordon (Tom) and William Pardee. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George Skitka; one daughter, Jill (Bruce) Hunt, of Waterford, two sons; Eric (Shindeok Kim) Skitka, of South Korea; Shawn (Cynde) Skitka ,of Corry, and daughter-in-law, Candy (late Daniel) Skitka, of Erie. Ruth is also survived by five sisters: Margaret Pardee, of Arlington, TX; Elizabeth (Joseph) Overberger, of Hastings, PA; Shirley (Edgar) Meese, of Northern Cambria, PA; Dorothy (late Carl) Henneman, of Warren, OH; Martha (Gerard) Hall, of Erie, two brothers; Edward (Donna) Pardee and Richard (Wilma) Pardee, of Northern Cambria, PA; sister-in-law Barbara (William) Pardee, of Hastings, PA; and daughters-in-law, Gina Skitka and Mona Skitka, of Erie. Ruth had 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Friday for the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
