Daniel A. Borden
Daniel "Dan" A. Borden, age 93, of Millcreek Twp, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born on September 10, 1918, the son of the late, Andrew and Anna Gasper Borden.
He served in the Army/Air Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theater, stationed on Tinian. Before volunteering to serve his country, Dan began his career as a steelworker in Pittsburgh, but locally is probably most fondly remembered as the owner of a corner store at 6th and Parade Streets called, Borden's PX from 1954 thru 1972. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle R.C. Church. Dan loved music and sports, both as a player and spectator, and was an avid Pirate and Steeler fan. Dan enjoyed his computer, and completed an extensive research and documentation of the family's genealogy. If you knew Dan, you very likely will remember him as one of the sweetest, nicest guys you've ever known.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen C. Kelly Borden, three sons; Daniel K. Borden of Atlanta, GA, Paul A. Borden (Tina) of Erie, Scott W. Borden of Polk, PA, one brother, Andrew Borden (Henrietta) of Coraopolis, two sisters-in-law, Hilda Graham and Helen Borden, three grandchildren; Kate, Ben, and Paul Borden and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. Private interment.
