Obituary of Barney Skladanowski

Barney J. Skladanowski Barney J. Skladanowski, age 86, of Millcreek Twp. died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at St. Vincent Health Center after a brief illness. He was born in Erie, PA on December 27, 1921, the son of the late Walter and Marcella Ciechacka Skladanowski. Barney was a life-long Erie resident and worked at Zurn Energy Division for thirty-four years until his retirement. He was a member of The East Erie Turners, Zukor Club, a founding member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, and one of the last founding members of EC & EE Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed watching McDowell Football, playing golf, casinos, and Cleveland Indians Baseball. He served in WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. His wife, Carmella Delio Skladanowski, preceded him in death. He is survived by his three children: Dennis Skladanowski and his wife, Betsy and Cynthia Forne and her husband, Nick all of Millcreek Twp. and Mary Beth Schultz and her husband, Matt of Canton, GA, one sister, Theresa Fiorelli of Erie, one brother, Walter Skladanowski of Millcreek Twp., seven grandchildren: Adam, Christina, Matthew, Emily Forne, Kimberly Skladanowski, Alison, and Ashley Schultz, a great-granddaughter, Avery Forne, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Chester, and Joseph Skladanowski, and two sisters, Stella Zukowski and Clara Habas. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for prayer service followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace at 10:00 a.m. Entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
