Obituary of Wilda Smith

Wilda M. Smith Wilda M. Smith, age 85, of Fairview, formally of 2314 Sassafras St., died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the home of her sister, Lucille Stanko, after a brief illness. She was born in Erie on February 7, 1923, the daughter of the late Lester and Katheryne Smith. She was a life-long resident of the Erie area, was employed at G.E. for forty years, and volunteered at St. Vincent's Hospital and Sarah Reed for eleven years. Wilda is survived five sisters: Shirley Urda, Charlotte Engell and her husband, Ellery, Lucille Stanko and her husband, Ed, and Elaine Stanley and her husband, Bud, all of Erie, and Betty Fuller and her husband, Joe, of Phoenix, AZ, and three brothers: Herbert Smith and his wife, MaryAnn of Phoenix, AZ, Albert Smith and his wife, Ruth, of Erie, and LeRoy Smith and his wife, Pam of Glendale, CA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilfred Smith. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday, July 7 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service there at 7:00 p.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial contributions can be made to the City Mission, 1017 French St., Erie, PA 16501 or to the Hospice of Metropolitan Erie, 202 East 10th St., Erie, PA 16503.
