Mildred M. Ensign Sornberger
Mildred Mae "Millie" Ensign Sornberger, age 85, of Erie, died Monday, January 19, 2009, after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family, at her residence at the Village at Luther Square. She was born on December 12, 1923 in Girard, PA, the daughter of the late Maurice and Gladys Whitford Ensign.
She was a life-long Erie resident. She was employed for twenty years working with her husband at his businesses, Roy's Texaco, Exxon-Mobil and Service, and also as a housekeeper at the Millcreek Community Hospital. Millie was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and the Zukor Club. She enjoyed bingo, sewing, and changing her curtains and wallpapering her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65years, Roy W. Sornberger, who died on March 7, 2007. She is survived by one daughter, Janet Myers (Dennis) of Erie, three sons: Rick Sornberger (Cheryl), of Millcreek, Ed Sornberger (Ellen), and Don Sornberger (Donna) all of Erie, one sister, Laura Richardson, of East Springfield, four brothers: Raymond, Harold, Herbie, and Marvin Ensign. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Brian Myers (Dawn) of Fairview, Denise Burger (Chris) of Green Twp., Michelle Roberts (Jack), of Stilwell, OK, Breeanon Tomcho (Jason) of Erie, William Sornberger (Mary), Donald Sornberger, Jr. (Ashley)
of Erie, Nick and Nichole Verno of Erie, Melissa Johnson (Joseph) of Fountain, CO, Ann Sornberger of Erie, twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Jones.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
