Obituary of John Spinelli

John Spinelli John B. "Bud" Spinelli, age 78, of Millcreek Twp., died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at West Lake Woods surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on November 26, 1932, the son of the late, Guy B. and Mary DeLuca Spinelli. He was a 1950 graduate of Erie Tech H.S. He served in the US Army as an MP during the Korean War. John was employed at and retired from the Erie Bolt Corp in 1994. He was a commissioner for MYAA Sports and was instrumental in establishing the baseball umpire program. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. John was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Stinson Spinelli, in 2002, and an infant son, Barry Lee Spinelli. He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Hoskins (Mark) of Erie, three sons: John "Jack" Spinelli (Carol) of Millcreek, Dale Spinelli (Gretchen) of Denver, CO, and Todd Spinelli of Millcreek, eight grandchildren, two sisters, Rosemarie Lamar of FL, and Irene "Dolly" Bien of Erie. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to Christ United Methodist Church, 2615 West 32nd St., Erie, PA 16506 on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of Erie County, 2253 West Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16506 or to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St., Erie, PA 16505.
