Obituary of Evelyn Strong

Evelyn M. Long Strong Evelyn M. Long Strong, age 86, of Erie, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the Millcreek Manor. She was born in Erie on April 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Claire and Dora Godfrey Long. She was retired from the admissions office at McKeesport Hospital. Having lived in McKeesport for over 40 years, she was an avid Steelers fan. She enjoyed gambling and watching soap operas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe "Bud" Strong; her only child, Karen Dalglish; one sister, Loretta Amann; two brothers, Thurman "Lefty" and Elmore "Barney" Long; a niece, Denise Fowler; and a nephew, Dennis Long. She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Kathryn Bottoni and her husband, Anthony, with whom she made her home; Janet McFadden, and Art and Char Amann, all of Erie. Other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of the Millcreek Manor for the excellent care given to Evelyn in her final days. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there for the funeral service on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
