Anthony J. Tavernese Anthony J. Tavernese, age 95, of Millcreek Twp., died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born in Erie on July 2, 1916, the son of the late, Joseph and Carmella Ruffo Tavernese. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. He was a manager with Luria Scrap and Metals in Erie prior to his retirement. He and his late wife, Jean, enjoyed traveling and spending time in CA and FL. Tony returned to Erie in 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Tavernese, six brothers: Joe, Mike, Leonard, Jimmy, Ross, and Frank, two sisters; Rita Grace and Josephine. Tony is survived by his niece, Deborah Huber (Ed) of Millcreek, with whom he resided, six children: Rita Psomkadomis (Terry), Carolyn Tavernese, Anthony Tavernese (Pam), Susan Walker (Thomas), Mary Grace Bardall, Michael Tavernese, two sisters; Mary Zielonis, Rose Carter, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
