Robert "Bob" C. Tome
Robert "Bob" C. Tome, age 74, of Millcreek Twp., formerly of Fairview, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Erie on April 22, 1934, the son of the late, Ora and Eleanor Brand Tome.
He was a 1952 graduate of Millcreek High School. He served in the 3rd Armored Battalion in Germany. Bob was employed at RP&C Valve for twenty five years, GE, and he retired from Riley Stoker in 1998. He was a substitute driver for Slovedt. He was a long time member of Holy Cross Church and served as treasurer of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He enjoyed playing golf, sailing, attending car cruise-ins, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of forty years; Lois Mirinelli Tome, whom he married on May 30, 1968. Also surviving are his children: Elizabeth Nee (Sean), Deborah Kanoza (Ken), and Jeffrey Tome (Rachel), his siblings: Gene Tome (Carole), John Tome (Olga), Lois Cermak (John), and Ronald Tome (Sharon), his grandchildren: Maggie and Katelyn Nee, Amber and Jessica Kanoza, Maia Tome, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Tome in infancy.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday for a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace at 10:00 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie City Mission, 1017 French St., Erie, PA 16501, or to the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507.
