Obituary of Nina Tranzillo

Nina Babe Tranzillo Nina Babe Tranzillo, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on October 14, 1930, the youngest child of the late William and Gladys Thompson Babe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Tranzillo, two sisters; G. Lorraine Allen and Janice Dragone, and one brother, William R. Babe. After the death of her mother, when ten days old, she was raised by her aunt, Ethel Babe Cross and her paternal grandparents. Nina graduated from Academy H.S. and the Hamot Hospital School of Nursing. She took a surgical internship at the Yale Medical Hospital, (New Haven, CT) and later attended the White Plains (NY) College. She worked in various nursing areas while caring for her family in Rye Town/Port Chester, NY. Retiring in 1994, she returned to Erie, PA She volunteered at the Blasco Library Heritage Room for fourteen years. Other interests were: sewing, painting, gardening, bowling, bocce, and family heritage research which included traveling to N. Ireland. She is survived by one son, Timothy Tranzillo, of N. White Plains, NY, three daughters: Elizabeth Tranzillo, of Erie, Katherine Tranzillo (James William), of Camden, ME, and Jacqueline Tranzillo (Armando Tersigni), of Melbourne, Australia. Her stepson, Louis Tranzillo (Cathy), of Winnabow, NC, stepdaughters; Jessica Tranzillo (Joseph Smith) of Queens, NY and Maria Tranzillo, of Tarrytown, NY, one sister, Rowena Colgan, of Edgewater, FL, six grandchildren, and a dear friend, Elmer Lawrence, of Erie. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2:45 p.m. Private interment.
