William A. Turk
William "Bill" A. Turk, age 96, of Erie died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family. It pleased God to take him home on that day. He was born in Hilliards, PA on May 3, 1914, the son of the late Harry and Maude Thompson Turk.
He was a school teacher for ten years and then was a claims adjustor for Nationwide Insurance for thirty- five years. He was a loyal, honest man of integrity, who loved his wife and children, extended family, his country and community. He was a good neighbor who resided in Erie for 50 years. He attended Erie First Free Methodist Church, was a 32nd. Degree Free Mason, and he belonged to the NRA. He enjoyed reading and writing poetry.
He married his wife of 72 years, Victoria, on November 2, 1938. Besides his wife, Bill is survived by four daughters: Gayle Hopkins, Vickie Kenehan, Debra Swindlehurst, and Sharon Salina, 23 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two sisters, Edna Cemate and Florence Parenti. He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday from 2 until time of service there at 4:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Jeffery Johnson. Private interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Erie First Free Methodist Church, 1761 West 26th St., Erie, PA 16508.
