Marie McBride Gorr Craker Brnilovich Marie McBride Gorr Craker Brnilovich, age 73, of Millcreek Twp., died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital surrounded by her family and friends after a yearlong courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born on September 8, 1935, in Coatesville, PA, the daughter of the late Robert and Dora McBride. She moved to Erie in the mid-50's and was employed at Union Bank and for thirty-five years she worked in the Erie County Courthouse in various offices, the last being the Veteran's Affairs Office. After retiring, she worked at the Hospice Thrift Shop. Marie was instrumental in establishing the AFSCME Union at the Erie County Court House, was very active in the Erie County Women's Democratic Council, and was named Women of the Year in 1997. She volunteered as a Democratic State Committee Woman and a Millcreek Committee Woman. She was a member of several clubs including the Sportsman's Club. Marie worked on several political campaigns and one of her proudest moments was when her daughter-in-law was elected Millcreek Tax Collector in 2005. She was known for her love of shopping and love of animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Brnilovich in 1999. She is survived by her son, Terry Craker, and his wife, Lynn, of Millcreek, dear friends, Richard and Rose Vargo, of Erie, beloved dog, Rollo, and her dear cats. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 until time of service there at 8:00 p.m. Private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
