Julia Tayntor Wesmiller
Julia Tayntor Wesmiller, age 79, a life-long Erie resident, died on Monday, September 10, 2007, after an eleven-year battle with cancer. She was the only child of Atty. Clark O. Tayntor and Mary Wheeler Tayntor. Mary "Nanny" S. Dill raised Julia after the death of her parents.
Julia graduated from Hollins College in Roanoke, VA in 1949 with a BA Degree in Biology. She enjoyed reading, music, traveling, sewing, knitting, gardening, nature, collecting beach glass, and her grandchildren. Julia was a season ticket holder for the Erie Philharmonic since 1949 and was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harold S. Wesmiller. They were married at Blessed Sacrament Church on December 21, 1950. Julia is also survived by one son, David C. Wesmiller and his wife, Karen of Erie and their children: Rachel, Jessica, and Matthew, three daughters: Mary A. Szumlanski and her husband, Paul of Olympia, WA and their children, Amy Szumlanski and Katie Clark, Lisa W. Benson and her husband, Chris of Erie and their children, Corey and Sara, and Laura W. Butler and her husband, Joe of Erie and their children, Kaitlin, Andrew, and Eric Butler, also her in-laws: Robert and Evelyn Wesmiller of Erie, James and Virginia Randolph of Bradford, and Jack and Mary Randolph of Bradford, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. for a prayer service followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church. At 1:30 p.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1030 State St., Erie, PA 16501.
