Evelyn J. Wesmiller Evelyn J. Wesmiller, age 81, of Erie, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 16, 1930, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Edward and Alma Richardson. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Eleanor Estep and Marilyn Richardson, sister-in-law, Julia T. Wesmiller, and her beautiful granddaughter, Erica Lynn Jares. Evelyn was the beloved wife of Robert C. Wesmiller and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 15, 2012. Their devotion began at a chance meeting at a USO Club in 1950, while Robert was serving in the US Army and Evelyn was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Prior to her marriage, Evelyn was employed by the American Fletcher Bank in Indianapolis. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, reading, bowling, going to the movies, rides around the Peninsula, and working out at the Pennbriar. She was a parishioner of St. George Church since 1956. Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Wesmiller; six children: Diana Grieshober and her husband, Jim, of Erie, John Wesmiller and his wife, Bonnie, of North East, Gail Jares and her husband, Tim, of Erie, Elaine Berndt and her husband, Tom, of Erie, Brenda Parrini and her husband, Dante, of York, PA, and Brian Wesmiller and his wife, Wendy, of Erie; fourteen grandchildren: Jennifer (Rod) Griola of West Orange, NJ, Erin (Scott) Trentel of Cincinnati, OH, Jeffrey (Merve) Grieshober of Brooklyn, NY, Steven, Daniel, and Jonathan Jares all of Erie, Leanne, Ryan, and Bethany Berndt all of Erie, Lauren and Joseph Parrini of York, PA, and Jared, Jenna, and Justin Wesmiller all of Erie; great-granddaughters; Sarah and Zoe Griola and Catherine Trentel; brother-in-law, Harold S. Wesmiller, of Erie, and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn fought a brave and courageous battle with cancer for nearly a decade. The Wesmiller Family would like to thank Dr. Jan Rothman, the wonderful staff at the Regional Cancer Center, and Great Lakes Hospice for the compassionate and loving care given to Evelyn. At Evelyn's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regional Cancer Center Foundation, 2500 W. 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Suite 244, Erie, PA 16501. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. for prayers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
