Edward A. Wierzchowski, Sr.
Edward A. "No-Hit Eddie" Wierzchowski, Sr., age 74, of Millcreek Twp., finally went to his heavenly home to be with his son, Don, and Jesus, on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at UPMC-Hamot. He was born in Erie on January 11, 1937, the son of the late, Edward C. and Lottie Godzwa Wierzchowski.
He played baseball for Erie Tech High and pitched a no-hitter against East H.S.
He retired from Hammermill Paper Co. after 44 years of employment. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sporting events.
Ed is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Presutti Wierzchowski, one son, Edward Wierzchowski, Jr., two daughters, Janet Sardini (Robert), Leslie Alexander (Scott), one sister, Mary Ann Huff, nine grandchildren: Ashley, Jessica, and Joe Wierzchowski, Anthony, Matthew, and Christina Sardini, Donald, Nicole and Maria Alexander. He was preceded in death by one son, Don Wierzchowski, his father-in-law, Louis Fabrizi, and his mother-in-law, Mary Fabrizi.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Monday at 9:15 a.m. for prayers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
