Frederick Harold Wittenburg, Jr.
Frederick H. Wittenburg, Jr., age 47, of Erie, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Golden Living-Western Reserve following a long illness as a result of complications from brain cancer and diabetes.
Fred was born in Erie on February 21, 1965, the son of the late, Frederick Wittenburg, Sr. and Lynda (Albert) Wittenburg. He graduated from General McLane H.S. in 1983. He moved for a time to Pittsburg, CA near San Francisco.
Fred most recently worked as a caregiver. He also was a manager at Staples, was a student at Tri State Business Inst. for computer programming, and was an electrician with a certification from the Erie County Tech School. He enjoyed taking his two dogs for walks, computers, was a big fan of Star Trek, and loved to travel. He also loved his family and friends. Very special people for him were his mother, Lynda, who cared for him up until her death on February 28, 2011, and family friends who constantly provided love and support while he was in the nursing facility; including Barbara Hopkins, Karen Shor, and many others.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lynda Wittenburg, father, Frederick "Fritz" Wittenburg, and a sister, Nicole (Wittenburg) Russell.
Survivors include his sister, Jill Wittenburg and her husband, Ammar Hussieno, and their son, Zane Hussieno, of Casper, WY, grandmother, Lina (Siefert) Albert, of Erie, and many aunts and uncles.
Friends and family are invited to a grave-side service at (Dunn) Valley Cemetery, Dunn Valley Rd., McKean, PA on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 719 Indiana Dr., Erie, PA 16505.
