Joan I. McCullough Zech
Joan I. Zech, age 79, of Millcreek Twp., died Friday, December 18, 2009 (after a nine month battle with cancer) at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Erie, PA on December 9, 1930, the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Barron McCullough.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a member of Nautilus for 16 years where she enjoyed working out, and the Hamot Aide Society as a volunteer. She enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, Robert E. Zech. She is survived by her long-time companion, Michael Abramczyk, one daughter, Karen Nuber (Gary), one son, Erich Zech (Pam), one sister, Jean Morrison, one brother, Robert McCullough all of Millcreek. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren: Kristyn and Katy Zech, Kurt and Erica Nuber Kraus and great grandchildren: Hayden Nuber and Konnor Kraus.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service. Interment Erie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 2253 West Grandview Blvd., the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th St. Erie, PA 16508, or to the Erie Humane Society, 2707 Interchange Rd. Erie, PA 16506.
