Obituary of Alberta Herman

Alberta K. Schnell Herman, age 91, of Edinboro, formerly of Erie, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Wesbury, Meadville, PA. She was born in Erie on September 26, 1921, the daughter of the late, Albert and Catherine Koch Schnell. Alberta was a homemaker, a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, a member and past Worthy High Priestess of Jeptha Shrine #12, White Shrine of Jerusalem, enjoyed road trips with her husband and friends, enjoyed music, singing, and dancing. She was a 25 year member of the State Police of Crawford and Erie County Company #28; where she served as Sergeant among other duties.
Alberta was preceded in death by one day her husband of 69 years, Lawrence "Larry" Herman.
She is survived by five children: Robert Herman (Lorraine), of Edinboro, Thomas Herman, of Erie, Dennis Herman (Rita), of Woodcock, PA, Charmaine Bauer, of Erie, Donald Herman (Uschi), of Woodcock, PA, one brother, Albert Schnell, Jr. (Irene), of Erie, eleven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Dorothy Urban and Kathleen Chichocki.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. for a dual visitation for Lawrence and Alberta on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Monday for prayers at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart R.C. Church at 10:00 a.m. for both Lawrence and Alberta. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
