Obituary of Thomas Heidler

Thomas "Tom" M. Heidler, age 91, of Fairview Twp., passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Bridgeville, PA on May 26, 1922 the son of the late, Clayton B. and Sophia Morrow Heidler. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII in the European Theatre. Tom retired from Erie Malleable Iron and managed a farm for R.C. McElroy on Heidler Road. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church; where he was an usher for many years and the Millcreek Goodtimers. Tom loved spending time with his grand and great-children and enjoyed camping, fishing, and reading. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine "Kay" M. Lindner Heidler, one daughter, Brenda J. Shaut (David) of Cranesville, three grandchildren; Sheryl Dubinski (Bill) of Cranesville, Brian Shaut (Penny) of McKean, Daniel Shaut of Cranesville, five great-grandchildren: Dustin, Dylan, and Kaylie Dubinski, Kenna and Tenor Shaut, one brother, John "Jack" Heidler (Betty) of Canonsburg, PA, one sister-in-law, Norma Cubbon (Wayne), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven siblings. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Friday for the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Sterrettania Cemetery.
