Obituary of Alois Tomczak

Alois Tomczak, age 89, of Millcreek Twp., passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on May 19, 1924 in Erie, the son of the late, Jacob and Leokadya Wisniewski Tomczak. Alois served in the US Army during WWII (1943-1946). He was employed at Ervite Corp. and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Chernicky Tomczak in 2008, three brothers: Bernard, Sigismund, and Edward Tomczak, three sisters: Sophie Domowicz, Dorothy Facchiano and Eleanor Grabowski. He is survived by two sons; Alan and Mark Tomczak, one daughter, Cathy (Tomczak) DiLeonardo, one brother, Steve Tomczak, grandchildren: Amy (Tomczak) Francis, Jesse and Jason Tomczak, Jennifer (Tomczak) Acken, Christen and Rebecca DiLeonardo, and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of prayer service there at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street at 10:30 a.m. Private entombment at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
