Obituary of Cherie Dickey

Cherie Fenwick Bobbs Dickey, age 94, of Millcreek Twp. died at Golden Living- Western Reserve on Saturday, February 1, 2014. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 30, 1919, the daughter of the late Herbert F. Fenwick, M.D. and Ruth D. Christiansen. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and for eleven years was a secretary in two state conferences of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nashville, TN and Atlanta, GA; and executive secretary for ten years at the Tennessee Christian Medical Center, Portland (Tennessee), a Seventh-day Adventist hospital. She was an active member of the Erie Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Dickey had been a member of the Millcreek Women's Chorus, taught basic health classes, and was a volunteer at the Regional Cancer Center in Erie for ten years. She also began and was coordinator for the neighborhood crime watch program for her neighborhood. She enjoyed playing the piano and home organ, reading aloud to family and friends, singing, and teaching an adult Sabbath school class at the Erie Seventh-day Adventist Church. She is survived by her husband, George O. Dickey, Sr. of Millcreek, a son and his wife, Greg and Sharon Bobbs of Cumming, Georgia, two grandsons, Brian and Scott Themins of Hemet, CA, two granddaughters, two great-grandsons, four step-children, and nine step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Toni Smith, one brother, Hal Christiansen, and a sister, Darlee Boyer. There will be no calling hours. Private interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held at the Erie Seventh-day Adventist Church, 190 Hunter Willis Rd. at a time and date to be announced. The Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. is handling all arrangements.
