Obituary of Robert Glass

Robert J. Glass, age 87, passed away peacefully at Pleasant Ridge Manor West on Sunday, February 16, 2014. He was born on September 26, 1926, the son of the late Joseph and Alice Sain Glass. Robert was a graduate of St. Mary's Public High School and served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was a retired draftsman having worked at various Erie factories. Bob was a long time New York Yankees fan and a proud fan of Notre Dame football. He was an avid bowler and gardener. He belonged to various social clubs:
CYS, VFW, American Legion, and the Holy Trinity Club of Erie.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Wasielewski Glass and a brother, Francis Glass of Williamsport, PA. Robert is survived by his son Stanley and his wife, Celia of Virginia Beach, VA, Christine Price of Erie and Renee Starek and her husband, Daryl of Irwin, PA. He is further survived by his sister, Aldine Weiss of Delhi, NY and his sister-in-law, Jutta Glass of Williamsport, six grandchildren: Cory Glosser, Ian Price, Ashley Van De Vanter, Michael Glass, Michelle Wilcoxson, and Jake Starek, five great-grandchildren: Leila Wilcoxson, Peyton and Parker Price, Bladen and Laura Van De Vanter, and his former wife, Dorothy Harahue of Erie. The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant Ridge Manor West for all their love and care.
Friends are invited to call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday for prayers at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 2401 West 38th Street at 10:00 a.m. Private inurnment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or to the Disabled American Vets, Erie VA Hospital, 135 East 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504.
