Obituary of Michael Mitchell

Michael P. "Mitch" Mitchell, age 49, of Millcreek Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 11, 2014 at UPMC-Hamot. He was born in Erie, the son of Curt and Barb Carey Mitchell of McKean. He was employed at Hero BX. Mitch was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Besides his parents, Mitch is survived by his wife of twenty years, Rhonda L. Pontious Mitchell, two children; Mackenzie, who was his pride and joy in all she did such as; playing the cello, art, and speech/debate, Dale, where his dad would always cheer for him at every BMX race and hockey game. He was always there for support and love.
He is also survived by four sisters: Kim Mitchell of Erie, Renea Kovski (Chris) of Edinboro and their son, Mitchell, Buffy Coburn (Doug) of Waterford and their children; Katlyn and Garrett, Jessica Johnson of McKean, three brothers: Jay Johnson (Amy) of McKean and their children; Drew and Anna, Seth Johnson of McKean, Jeremiah Johnson (fiancé, Chandler Rogers) of McKean and their daughter, Georgia Rose, Uncle Ed and Colleen Weber and their children; Erik Weber (Maggie) and their children; Grace and Jack, Jeremy Weber (Emily), Chad Weber, Cari Weber, mother-in-law, Madeline (Nona) (Dave Perkowski) of McKean, and father-in-law, Jim Johnson (Melanie) of McKean.
He was preceded in death by one niece, Maggie Kovski, his maternal grandparents, Edward and Margaret Carey, and his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Marion Mitchell.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, April 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Friday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. for the Funeral Service. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the "Mackenzie and Dale Mitchell Fund" at any First National Bank branch or at the funeral home.
