I remember when Jennifer was born. Her mother, Teri, was my best friend at that time. I was dating her husband’s cousin,
John Schultz, and the four of us spent a great deal of time together. I can close my eyes and see myself standing at Teri’s back door, waiting for her to answer, with this new little baby girl in her arms! She and George were sooo happy! These were some of the happiest times of my life! Teri and I used to talk about what it would be like when we married and had children….how they would grow up friends.
Unfortunately, that never happened. I did something that seemed crazy, at that time, I enlisted in the United States Air Force and ended up in California…where I always dreamed of being.
I left Erie in July, 1967 and returned to Erie several times during the next several years. I returned in 1971 to get married to a young man I had met in California. Teri was one of my attendants and I was sooo happy she was there!
As my career progressed, including eight years in Germany, our contact with each other diminished. I regret that to this day. It saddens me greatly that she lost Jennifer and I couldn’t be there for her.
Jennifer was such a beautiful baby, who grew into such a beautiful woman!
God bless her and keep her always in the palm of his hand.
