Obituary of Theodore Mauz

Ted "Coach" Mauz, age 92, of Erie, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at UPMC-Hamot surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 28, 1921, the son of the late, Edward and Emma Mauz. Ted was a WWII veteran serving in the Army/Air Force. He was employed as a salesman for an industrial automotive supply company. Ted was a former President of the Galeton Rotary Club, VP of the Saddle Club in Galeton, Chairman of the Galeton Athletic Association, was a member of the Pleasant Ridge-West Friends Forever and served as a Boy Scout Master.
He enjoyed baseball (played in the Minor League of the Brooklyn Dodgers), coached McDowell baseball and enjoyed speed skating, golfing, and skiing.
He is survived by three daughters: Leslee Mauz Masolotte (James) of Littleton, CO, Wendy Mauz Kiel Guinta of Scottsdale, AZ, Kim Mauz Seth (Raymond) of Fairview, one son, Greg Mauz of Erie, three grandchildren: Marla Kiel Spencer (Trist), Travis Guinta, Amanda Seth, and one great-grandson, Miles Spencer.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. for the Funeral Service. Interment St. Francis Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Ridge-West Friends Forever Fund, Pleasant Ridge Manor-West, 8300 West Ridge Rd., Girard, PA 16417.
