Obituary of Helen Benny

Helen Louise Perry Lackey Benny, age 78, of Millcreek Twp. passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at her daughter and son-in-law's residence. She was born in Erie on May 27, 1935 the daughter of the late Alice Lewis Perry and adoptive daughter of C.R. Perry. Helen was a member of the first graduation class of McDowell High School in 1954. She was employed at Hamot Hospital and Doctors Osteopathic Hospital. She was past Noble Grand of the Laura Rebecca Lodge of the Eastern Star, past President of Woman's Society of Cascade Methodist Church, and AARP. She enjoyed cats, puzzle books, and camping. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard Lackey in 1975 and her second husband, John R. Benny in 2004, one sister, Kathleen Godfrey, two brothers; Donald and Robert Perry. Helen is survived by her children: Mark Lackey (John Jacobs), Linda Baskit (Michael), Jeff Benny (Julie), two grandchildren; Tyler and Jordan Benny and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday, May 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. for the funeral service conducted by the Rev. Dan Owen. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Regional Home Health Care (Ally) and the Regional Home Health Care Hospice (Melissa, Melinda, Kathleen) for their care and support for mom during this time of need.
