Lucille Resignola Fachetti passed away peacefully at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge on February 12, 2014 after a short illness. She was 96 years old. Born April 21, 1917 in Franklin, LA to Cologero and Michela Resignola she was one of six sisters. Orphaned at an early age, her childhood was spent at St. Joseph's orphanage in Erie where she attended St. Andrew's and Strong Vincent and finally Bradford High where she completed her senior year and graduated.
She is survived by a son, Thomas (and wife, Gail), daughter, Donna and two grandsons Michael and Paul, a single sister Carmela Camilli and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Attilio "T" Fachetti and four sisters: Josephine Agnello, Mary Ventrello, Frances Cherrange and Martha Grego. She loved participating in sports and was a league bowler and avid golfer. Relative to the latter, she took up the sport in 1952 and played for nearly 50 years with 40 years as a member of the Erie Golf Course. At "Erie" she served as president of the Women's 18-hole league and was active in Interclub competition. Over the years, she also was a member of numerous women's and couple's bridge groups. She also loved travel and made numerous trips in and out of the US visiting her son and daughter who worked for the federal government. From 1948 to 1962, she lived in many places in the US and Europe while accompanying her husband, Tom, an Air Force officer. During the "War" she worked at Talon, Griswold and Zippo. As to her machine skills at Talon, her beloved husband of 65 years kiddingly blamed her for the poor quality of zippers on his flight suits. The family wishes to thank St. Mary's and particularly the residential care staff and VNA Hospice for their kind and gentle attendance in her final weeks. Family and friends may call at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, February 16th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and further visitation at St. Mary's of Asbury Ridge Chapel on Monday, February 17th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11: a.m. Interment follows at a date yet to be determined.
