Obituary of Jean Herbst

Jean M. Lawson Herbst, age 86, of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge. She was born on September 7, 1927 in Erie, the daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth Moore Lawson. She was employed at R.T. French Spice Co. and V.L. McClay Food Broker. Jean was a graduate of St. Benedict's Academy and was a member of St. Peters Cathedral. She was past President of the St. Benedict's Alumni Association and was a member of St. Peters Rosary Society. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Richard F. Herbst, four brothers: Robert, William, James and Jerome Lawson. She is survived by her children; Cynthia Wegs of Denver, CO, Maureen Herbst of Millcreek Twp., Dr. Charles Herbst (Nancy) of Millcreek Twp., one sister, Barbara Bechtold (Gerald), and two grandchildren; Casey and Kelsey Herbst. Friends may call at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Private interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Rd., Erie, PA 16506 or to St. Peter Cathedral, 230 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16501. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
