Obituary of Nancie Stowe

Nancie Marie Stowe passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Erie, she was born on March 26, 1931, the youngest child of John and Helene Meyers Sigmond.
Mrs. Stowe graduated from Sacred Heart School and Villa Maria Academy, and attended Mercyhurst University. She worked briefly for General Telephone, Halle Brothers, and the Erie Dry Goods Co., before wedding Roger R. Stowe on August 16, 1951. Together they shared a love and commitment that lasted for the next sixty-two years.
Mrs. Stowe was a longtime parishioner at St. George Church and a member of the Siebenbuerger Club Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included reading, travel, and socializing with her Villa classmates. A woman of warm and tender heart, Nancie's greatest love was her family, over whom she extended her generosity and influence from first to last.
She is survived by her husband, her sister Lillian Sipple of Erie, her sons Mark Stowe (Linda) of Moneta, VA; Jeffrey Stowe (Cheri) of Erie; and Christopher Stowe (Wendy) of Annandale, VA; as well as two grandchildren, Ian Stowe (Caity) of Glenshaw, PA; and Brittany Stowe of Erie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Dubane, and by her brothers John and Donald Sigmond.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and are invited there on Monday for a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
