Obituary of Roberta Gill

Roberta M. Baranowski Gill passed away suddenly at her residence on Thursday, August 21, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cleveland, OH on November 12, 1944. The daughter of the late Angela Krnel Baranowski. She graduated from Collinwood High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Case Western Reserve. After graduating she taught elementary school in Cleveland, OH. She married Charles M. Gill, Jr. on July 2, 1966 and became a homemaker, raising 4 children. Since moving to Erie in 1984, she has been an active member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and enjoyed boating with her husband at the Bay Harbor Marina. Once her children were older, she went back to work and spent 23 years working for the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit with the Migrant Education Program. She retired in 2010 and has spent the last 4 years traveling around the world with her husband.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 48 years, Charles M. Gill, Jr. of Erie, PA; daughter Michelle Woznichak (and husband Gregg) of Clayton, NC; son David Gill (and wife Amy) of North Providence, RI; daughter Sandra Harberger of York, PA; daughter Deborah Buchanan (and husband Robert) of Concord, NC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren who she loved spending time with and spoiling; Claudia Woznichak, Sophia Woznichak, Hailey Buchanan, Owen Woznichak, Alexander Gill, Abigail Gill, Maisy Harberger, Nicholas Gill, and Robert Buchanan. Roberta also has two sisters Jean McCarthy (late husband Thomas) and Nancy Knapp (husband Ralph). She has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also preceded in death by her beloved aunt Mary Krnel and cousin Alan Cernigoj.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. and are invited there on Monday for prayers at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10:30 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman. Private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
