Obituary of Richard Grudzien

Richard "Dick" Joseph Grudzien, age 79, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lackawanna, New York on July 29, 1935 to the late Edward and Anna (Chmeil) Grudzien. Dick attended Lackawanna High School and graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1971. He was a life-long member of Delta Sigma PI Business Fraternity. Dick worked in manufacturing and manufacturing management throughout Buffalo, NY and Erie, PA. He retired in 2001, and spent his time pursuing his passions of dealing antiques and record collecting. Dick and his wife, Jan, owed "and all that stuff "for 20 years on Peach Street. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two nephews; Dennis Grudzien and Joshua Grudzien. Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Janice (Kubiszyn) Grudzien; daughters: Kim Sickert (E. Willy) of Erie, Dana Meinert (Dean) of Stafford, VA, Amy Gill (David) of Providence, RI; son Michael Grudzien (Leanne) of Erie; twelve grandchildren: Matthew, Lauren and Sarah Sickert; Reilly, Casey, Lindsay, and Benjamin Meinert; Alexander, Abigail and Nicholas Gill; Leah Kowalewski, and Emily Grudzien. He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Daniel Grudzien, Henry Grudzien (Shigeko) and Lawrence Grudzien (Betty) and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at St. Joseph/Bread of Life Community, 147 West 24th Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Saturday (tomorrow) from 9:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Larry Richards. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph/Bread of Life Community. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
