Robert M. Bauer, age 93, of Millcreek Twp., passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at Independence Court of Erie. He was born in Erie on March 31, 1921, the son of the late Gustave R. and Elizabeth Koch Bauer. Robert was a graduate of Academy H.S. He served in the US Army during WWII during the occupation of Japan. He was employed by the Pennsylvania, Penn Central, and Conrail Railroads for over forty years, retiring in 1990. Robert enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a life-long member of the Maennerchor and Siebenbuerger Clubs. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Trampenau Bauer, five sisters: Anna Spiegel, Elizabeth Osterberg, Frieda Phadt, Gertrude Clark, Josephine Bauer, two brothers; Albert and Arthur Bauer. He is survived by one son Dr. Robert F. Bauer (Kathleen) of Millcreek Twp., three grandchildren: Kristen Bauer, Kristopher Bauer (Lauren), and Kara Bauer, many nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. Friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 509 East 26th Street, Erie. Private interment. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 1600 Peninsula Dr., Erie, PA 16505.
