Marko Klapsinos, age 82, of Millcreek Twp. went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2014 at UPMC-Hamot. He was born on November 21, 1931 in Erie, the son of the late George and Angeline Vanos Klapsinos. He was a 1949 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He served in the US Army Infantry "Tropical Lightening" during the Korean War. He was affiliated with his father in the restaurant/tavern business. He was employed in his father-in-law's business, Ventura's Café, and then retired from Penn Brass Copper. He was a member of The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church where he was on the parish council for many years and was an honorary board member in his later years. He was very active in the Greek Festival giving church tours for many years. He was a member of Millcreek Elks Club #67. He enjoyed walking and was a member of the Silver Sneakers at Nautilas and having breakfast with the Gang at Burger King. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vangela Simon. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Libra "Lee" M. Ventura Klapsinos, one son, George Marko Klapsinos (Kristy) of Millcreek, one daughter, Karen L. Klapsinos Arnone (John) of Erie, one grandson, Marko George Klapsinos, one granddaughter, Kendall Marie Klapsinos, four sisters: Mary Ungerman of Erie, Helen Pappas (Nick) of Erie, Irene Harpst (Ron) of Cleveland, Stella Athens (John) of Seattle, WA, brother-in-law, Jerome Simon of
Millcreek, god children, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. An Elks Club service will be held at 4:00 p.m. and a Trisagion Service will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4376 West Lake Rd. on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Theofanis Nacopoulos officiating. Internment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4376 West Lake Rd., Erie, PA 16505.
