Obituary of George Gibb

George Hamilton Gibb March 13, 1929-November 20, 2014 George H. Gibb was born in McKeesport, PA on March 13, 1929 to George and Mary Gibb. George passed away peacefully at his home in Buena Park, CA. George was predominately raised in Erie where he met and married the love of his life Dolores Peters on August 4, 1951. George graduated from Gannon College with a B.A. in Foreign Languages and a teaching credential, and began his long teaching career at Springfield High School, teaching foreign languages. They moved to CA in 1957 where George taught social studies at South Whittier Jr. H.S. in Whittier CA until 1999. He received his M.A. in Social Sciences from Cal State Long Beach. George had many interests to include: travel, hiking, literature, theater, and movies. He was very active in Men of Mystery, Festival of Literary Women Authors, and League of Women Voters. George is survived by his wife, Dolores, a son Robert and wife Kathryn and his daughter Victoria and husband William Peterson and his beloved grandchildren: Alexander, Katherine, Tiffany, Eleanor, and Rebecca, a sister Wilma, brother-in-law Jacob Peters and wife Ann and many nieces and nephews. Service and viewing will be on Thursday, December 4 at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at a later time in Buena Park, CA.
