Obituary of Richard Singer
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dick will be missed by his multi branched family tree and the one under the tree Mackenzie's Muffin; his white West Hyland Terrier. Dick's tree started to grow when he was born to Lawrence and Gladys Hooven Singer. The other limb on the tree was his deceased brother John Singer. In 1943 Dick was invited to join the US Army and served two years in the European Theater as a Sergeant in the Light Machine Specialty, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and the Bronze Arrow-European African Eastern Service Medal with five bronze stars. He returned to Erie and was employed by several manufacturing plants, spending the last and retiring from Erie Press. He was married to Ellen Sandstrom, deceased. The first branch added to Dick's tree was Paul Singer in 1947. In 1979 Paul Singer married Joyce Duffin, who added limbs; Robby Duffin, Laurie Duffin, and Heather Duffin Sidun. In 1982 Dick met and married Helen Adams Copeland, who brought children; Michael Copeland, Dana Copeland, and Krystal Copeland Ahl. The tree now had many limbs but it did not end there. Added were grandchildren; John Ahl, Jr., Jared Ahl, Lindsay Lucas, Darcie, Jason, and Eric Copeland, Dana Copeland II, Kevin, Tristan and Victoria Copeland, and Crystal Blount. The tree now has nine great-grandchildren and it has stable roots. Dick's limb being removed from the tree has a left a bare area which God will fill. The roots of this tree is healthy and deep. May God watch over Dick now and keep him peaceful.
