Obituary of Catherine Nelson

Catherine "Kay" E. Enman Nelson was born on February 9, 1918 in Worchester, MA to the late Angus and Eva Enman. Kay's soul rose to heaven on December 13, 2014. She passed peacefully at her home in Erie at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband Eric A. Nelson, her son Eric "Ricky" Nelson, her daughter Carol Nelson Powell, one brother Herbert Enman, and her sister Jessie McCallie. Kay moved to Erie in 1947. She worked as a secretary at American Meter for 22 years. She belonged to East Erie Turners and Navy Moms. Kay was a bowler and avid golfer, achieving a hole in one at the age of 65. She enjoyed aerobics until she was 86. Kay also had a love for swimming and swam until the age of 96. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Joyce Ondreako Nelson of Erie, daughter-in-law Patricia Nelson of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren: John Ondreako (Kathy), Christine Heberle (Paul), Wendy Chiaramonte (Scott), Thomas Ondreako (Michelle), Cynthia Ondreako (Todd) all of Erie, Kathy Tonkin (Harold) of Chicago, IL, and Ricky Nelson II of Tallahassee, FL, nine great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at First Assembly of God, 8160 Oliver Rd., Summit Building on Saturday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by a luncheon. Private interment.
