James R. Cappelletty
Erie resident, James R. Cappelletty, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Fairview Manor.
James was born on January 23, 1933 in Erie, the son of the late Phillip and Inez Cappelletty. He grew up in Erie and attended Tech High School, where he also played on the baseball and basketball teams. James was a hard worker whose career began "as soon as I could jump on the milk truck." In the 1960's James began working for Firch's Bakery, which later became Stroehmann Bakeries, in Erie. During his many years of dedicated employment, James relocated to three other Stroehmann plants in PA, returning to Erie when he retired in 1995.
James was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and the Lions Club in Erie for many years. He was an avid bowler and had a passion for cars and Fantasy Football.
In 1957, James married the love of his life, Joanne C. Rundquist, in Erie. Together the couple lovingly raised three children. Joanne preceded him in death on August 25, 2012.
James is survived by a son, Richard Cappelletty (Robin) of Millcreek Twp., two daughters; Debra Heiser (Wayne) of Falconer, NY and Laurie Matson (Ron) of Conewango Valley, NY, five grandchildren: Rae Anne Buck (Craig) of Erie, James Peterson and Danielle Smith (Jacob) of Jamestown, NY, Destiny Matson-Warner (John) of Edinboro, PA, and Brianna Matson of Conewango Valley, NY, six great-grandchildren, a brother, Robert Cappelletty (Garnet) of Girard, PA, three sisters: Elaine Meyer, Janet Pfister, and Nancy Conway (John) all of Erie, a brother-in-law, Carl "Sonny" Rundquist (Roseanne), numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan E. Cappelletty, a granddaughter, Tralynn A. Matson, a sister, Phyllis Kirby, and a brother-in-law, Robert Pfister.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Frank Hodges. Private interment.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Ryan E. Cappelletty Memorial Scholarship Fund at Edinboro University, Development Office, Edinboro, PA 16412.
