Obituary of Donald Shaner

Donald S. "Donny" Shaner, Jr., age 69 (two days shy of his 70th. birthday), of Millcreek Twp., passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on January 31, 1945, the son of the late Theodora "Teddy" Kling and Donald Smith Shaner, Sr. and step-father, Arthur Kling. Donald served as a Private in the US Army from 1962 - 1965. He was employed at Ervite/Metalade/APW and was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. Don enjoyed fast pitch softball where he was the pitcher, NASCAR, and was a dedicated life-time fan of the Cleveland Browns. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret M. Schnelzer Shaner, his children: Hope Shaner Donato of Charlotte, NC, Donald and Theresa Shaner of Girard, Christopher Shaner of Girard, four grandchildren: David, Caitlin, Cassandra, and Nicholas, four sisters: Sandra and Larry Ruggles, Jeannette Shaner Komorek (Tom), Sherrie Kling, Kimberly Robinson (Ernie), two brothers; Charles Shaner (Karen), Ricky Kling (Teresa) and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Arthur (Jimmy) Kling. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
