Obituary of Charles Schermer

Charles "Chuck" R. Schermer, age 83, of Millcreek Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Erie on October 6, 1931, the son of the late William E. and Dorothy Gardner Schermer. He was the owner of C. Schermer and Sons Building Contractors and retired from PHB, Inc. in 1995.
Chuck was an avid woodworker and enjoyed hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irma L. Johnson Schermer, his children: Darlene Phillips (Jerry) of Edinboro, William Charles Schermer (Sharon E.) of Springboro, Katherine A. Crossley (Gary) of Edinboro, Audrey L. Moon (Dean) of Millcreek, Michelle Dzeskewicz (Steve) of Mill Village, eleven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, two sisters; Evelyn Wright of Erie, and Mildred Martz of Edinboro.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael R. Schermer, one brother, George Schermer, and one infant sister.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 and are invited there on Friday for the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
