Obituary of Helen Smith

Helen Anne Smith, age 73, was welcomed home to eternal rest by her Savior and Lord on Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born in Erie on December 29, 1941, the daughter of the late Raymond R. and Alfreda Boyd Smith. Helen was a 1959 graduate of R.A.U.H.S. in Girard, PA. She had attended all of her class reunions. She and Robert A. Hough were married for 13 years, during which two daughters, Denise Lynne and Michele Anne and one son, Robert Allen were born. Helen worked at various jobs, although she mostly enjoyed being a mom and homemaker. She loved the Lord and had been active in the Christian community for many years. Helen courageously worked through many health challenges and set-backs over the past eighteen years. Her faith, family (son, Rob and daughters, Denise and Michele), and an enthusiastic good nature inspired many. She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise, who was the victim of an unsolved murder in 1980 in Texas and one brother Clayton Smith. She is survived by her son Rob A. Hough of Millcreek, and his two sons Jason Robert and Corey James, one daughter, Michele Notarangelo (Dave) of Erie, and their children Tami and David, three sisters: Christine Williams, Barbara Jackson, and Phyllis Safford, one brother, James Reynolds, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until time of Service there at 1:00 p.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
