Donald P. Wilkins
Donald “Don” P. Wilkins, age 70, of Millcreek Twp., passed away at his residence on Friday, August 18, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Erie on May 29, 1947, the son of the late Paul L. and Margaret Figula Wilkins. Don was a 1965 graduate of East H.S., attended Case Institute of Technology in 1965, served two years in the US Army stationed in Korea, and then graduated from UCLA with a BA degree in Economics in 1977. He worked at many industries while living in Los Angeles for thirty-five years before returning to Erie and working at Global Green Technologies, LLC. as a sales consultant. He enjoyed running and was seen running every day for 3 to 6 miles along West 10th and 12th Streets. He was a member of the Connie Mack Baseball League (city champs), he received the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, was a member of the LA Athletics Club, a life-time member of the UCLA Alumni Association, the American Legion, the VFW, the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club, and the Boy Scouts of America. He was the author of a best seller, Offline 21st Century Roulette published in 2007 and was never a gambler. He is survived by his wife Lauren Amthor, one step-daughter Jamie Rinderle (Greg) of Pittsburgh, one step-son Jason Miller (Valerie) of Millcreek, three grandchildren Taylor Miller, Jacob and Jackson Rinderle, and one sister Sheila Winslow (Ben) of Girard. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 4 until time of service at 6:00 p.m. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
