Obituary of Emmagene Pancoast

Emmagene (Em) Irons Pancoast, age 96, a resident of Manchester Commons, passed away there on Thursday January 13, 2022. She was born in Smethport, PA on August 16, 1925, a daughter of the late Edwin and Janette (Brougham) Irons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Daniel Stewart Pancoast Jr in 2016; two sisters, Helen (Peter) Lucia and Eileen (Gordon) Drum; two brothers, Milford E. Irons and John (Mary) Irons and two granddaughters, Geraldine Sykes and Angel Gibbs.
Em attended Edinboro State Teachers College and graduated from Hamot School of Nursing. She was employed with Hamot Medical Center as a surgical nurse. Volunteering her time was very important to Em and she spent countless hours at the American Cancer Society and the Senior Center. She was a member of the Hamot Alumni, was a Past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a longtime member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family, reading, gardening and walking.
She is survived by her four children, Arthur Dale Pancoast Sr., Donald Lee Pancoast, Katherine Ann Pancoast and Michael John Pancoast Sr.; grandchildren, Arthur Pancoast Jr., Richard Pancoast, Daniel S. Pancoast III, Michael J. Pancoast Jr., Elisha Pancoast, Lisa Pancoast, Jennifer Brown, A.J. Pancoast, Arjem Mae Pancoast, Shelby Jennings, Joshua Pancoast, Benjamin Pancoast, eleven great-grandchildren and one sister, Marie Nichols.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday January 17, 2022, from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 PM. Interment will be private in McKean County Memorial Park in Laffette, PA.
