Obituary of Phyllis M. Wolf

Phyllis M. Wolf Phyllis M. Wolf, age 90, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Conneaut Lake, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital in North Scottsdale, AZ. She was born at home on September 30, 1933, near Little Lake, MI, daughter of the late Antime J. and Bertha A. Frazier Clairmont. Phyllis proudly served her country in the Army Security Agency (ASA) from 1951 to 1954 as a Staff Sergeant with Signal Intelligence Cryptology. She married the late Dr. Alan E. Wolf of Meadville on October 18, 1955, in Würzburg, Germany. After moving from Germany to Erie, then to Conneaut Lake in 1958, Phyllis worked at Spencer Hospital from 1965 to 1966 and was later employed as an executive assistant by Avetx Fibers (f/k/a American Viscose and FMC Corp) in the Spinning Department and the Processing Department from 1966 to 1981. Phyllis and her husband founded Conneaut Cellars Winery in 1982. Phyllis enjoyed racing cars in Europe and was a founding member of the Würzburg Auto Sports Club in 1955; and later was a member of the Erie Sports Car Club, Meadville Bicycling Club, Oakland Beach Golf League, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, Lilly Dale Assembly, Fellowships of the Spirit (Ordained Minister), and Church of the Living Spirit. Phyllis liked swimming, cooking, reading, and traveling. She is survived by a daughter, Karen and her husband, Brian Gongaware, of Erie; a daughter, Camille and her husband, Hon. Robert Andrews, of Scottsdale, AZ; a son, Colonel (Ret) Joal Wolf and his significant other, Mary, of Conneaut Lake; eight grandchildren, Heather, Holly, Jenna, Ashley, Brittany, Kelsey, Jacquelyn, and Josie; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and nine siblings, Anna Ward, Evelyn Ketola, Francis Palmier Gauthier, Catherine (Waltrudis) Felmlee, Betty Jane (Mary-Bell) Habitzruther Walker, Edward Clairmont, Joseph Clairmont, Antoine Lawrence Clairmont, and Frederick Clairmont. Private interment will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie, PA. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Erie, PA. A private family service will be held later in the year at the convenience of the family. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.dusckasmartinfuneralhome.com.
